Home Support for People with Disabilities in D15
We have a small team of staff available to do light household tasks such as cooking, ironing, gardening and light painting that a person with disabilities may require assistance within their own home.
The idea behind this service is that people with disabilities often need some assistance with light maintenance issues in order to keep their home in order. There is a team of dedicated and friendly people on the community employment scheme in BCIL who can visit the home (usually on a weekly basis) to carry out the tasks required.
The scheme is not designed to carry out large programs of work, such as full-scale decorating, or any construction. They will carry out the tasks as agreed with each client and any issues that arise which require mending.
Each member of staff has garda clearance and there is an office based co-ordinator who liases between the client and the team to ensure efficiency.
On initial contact the co-ordinator will visit the home and agree a program with the client and explain what is possible and what the client wants.
