Blanchardstown Centre for Independent Living was recently recognized by the National Lottery, that it has been named as a #GoodCausesAward County Winner for 2023 in the Health & Well-being category. The judges were greatly impressed by the number of entries that BCIL submitted. Being named as the County Winner is a great recognition of the hard work and dedication of the organization’s members.
The members of the panel will then meet again in the following weeks to identify the organizations that will be advancing to the national finals stage. The National Finalists will be announced in late June.
The National Lottery Good Causes Awards honours the inspiring work and achievements of thousands of projects, clubs and individuals all over Ireland, who, with the help of National Lottery Good Causes Funding have had an extraordinary impact in their on their local communities.
Through the National Lottery’s 2022 grant BCIL was able to purchase a wheelchair-accessible vehicle to update one of our vans. This allows the organization to provide its members with a social model service. Through the transport service, people with disabilities can go to various events without worrying about getting delayed or stuck.
BCIL’s transport service provides a valuable service to the community, as it eliminates some of the stress that people with disabilities experience when going to hospitals. It also helps them participate in more regular activities and take control of their lives.
The BCIL is a community organization that supports people with disabilities, regardless of if they are born disabled or acquires a disability. It aims to help them live their lives as independently as possible. All Blanchardstown services facilitates a collaborative process that enables members to identify the most essential and practical services and supports that they require.
BCIL is thrilled on being awarded a County Winner in the Health & Wellbeing Category from the National Lottery. It is a great achievement for the organization and our members.
