International Day For The Eradication Of Poverty

BCIL is pleased to invite you to gather at the Mulhuddart Community Centre on Monday 16 October 2023 from 11:00a.m in order to mark United Nations International Day for the Eradication of Poverty and highlight disabilities extra cost.

The International Day for the Eradication of Poverty is observed annually on October 17th. It is a day designated by the United Nations to raise awareness about the need to eradicate poverty in all its forms and dimensions, and to promote actions to alleviate poverty worldwide.

The event is being organized to highlight the significance of fighting poverty. It features guest speakers and aims to give us an opportunity to discuss how the rising cost of living affects those with disabilities. By addressing these aspects, our members can play a significant role in promoting inclusivity, support and equality for people with disabilities facing poverty.

Inequities and poverty are not inevitable. Instead, they are the result of inaction and deliberate actions that have disenfranchised the marginalized and impoverished in our societies. The silent violence of poverty makes it harder for these individuals to escape and deny their humanity.

Through this event, BCIL aims to recognize the determination and challenges faced by individuals with disabilities who are living in poverty, providing them with an opportunity to have their concern heard and understood.

BCIL is a service that offers comprehensive support to enhance quality of life for those facing physical challenges in Dublin 15, enabling them to live autonomously and participate fully in their communities.
