National Carer’s Week 2024

#MakingCaringVisible

Ireland is marking National Carers Week 2024 from June 10th to June 16th, a dedicated period to honor and support the nation’s family carers who provide essential care to loved ones. This week, family carers in Ireland are invited to join a variety of events for National Carers Week 2024, happening from June 10th to 16th. There will be numerous in-person and online events throughout the week. The schedule includes over 160 activities such as coffee meet-ups, poetry sessions, art workshops, quizzes, informational meetings, church gatherings, musical performances, sound baths, retreats, walks, yoga classes, boat trips, and dance events

The latest Census reveals a surge in family carers, with an increase of 103,000 since 2016. Now, 299,128 individuals identify as carers, and over 86,000 provide more than 43 hours of care weekly. Click here for more information.

Liam O’Sullivan, CEO of Care Alliance says carer visibility is vital if we as a community are to recognise and appreciate the care that family carers provide. He goes onto say “We know from the latest Census figures that more and more people are caring for loved ones across the country, often invisible to the rest of our community”.
