As the upcoming general election approaches, BCIL is standing together with the Disability Federation of Ireland (DFI) and the wider disability community to ensure our voices are heard and our rights are prioritised by the next government. For too long, disabled people have faced poverty, limited access to essential services, and barriers to full participation in society. A more inclusive future for disabled people leads to stronger communities, accessible public spaces, and enhanced social cohesion.
BCIL recognises that disability impacts every facet of social and economic life, and we aim to make this reality known to all candidates. That’s why we’re encouraging the public to join this important campaign to hold candidates accountable, ensuring that disability remains a top priority for the incoming government.
As part of this movement, DFI has created a pledge for election candidates to show their support for these priorities. By signing, candidates make a commitment to our goals, enabling us to track and hold them accountable if they are elected. We invite everyone to use this opportunity to ask candidates to sign the pledge and show their dedication to disability inclusion.
