The Blanchardstown Centre for Independent Living welcomes the Government’s announcement of over €117 million in funding for the 2025 Housing Adaptation Grant programme, aimed at supporting 13,000 older people and disabled individuals across Ireland.
This increased investment—26% more than in 2024—will make a meaningful difference in helping people to remain living safely and independently in their own homes.
Key improvements to the grant scheme include:
- Increased maximum funding limits:
- €40,000 for Housing Adaptation Grant for Disabled People
- €10,700 for Housing Aid for Older People
- €8,000 for Mobility Aid Grant
- 25% increase in income eligibility thresholds
- Reduced local authority contribution requirement (from 20% to 15%)
Minister Browne said:
“The increased level of funding available in 2025 will continue to ensure delivery of these vital grants and empower local authorities to further assist older and disabled individuals in living independently within their own homes.”
These changes reflect a strong commitment to independent living, community inclusion, and improved quality of life for people with disabilities and older persons.
